Major office refurbishment project for South Ayrshire Council.
In April 2019, the team at Linear Design & Construct were appointed by hub South West to deliver the comprehensive refurbishment of several South Ayrshire Council Offices across locations in Ayr and Troon.
Secured through hub South West and South Ayrshire Council, the project involved upgrading a number of the current building spaces to deliver high quality offices for Council staff. The Design & Build project included extensive works within the Council headquarters at County Buildings in Ayr, Troon Municipal Buildings and River Terrace.
It also included internal upgrades to several other Council properties including the 9&10 Wellington Square and a first and second floor fit out of the former Clydesdale Bank Building in Ayr high street. As well as other refurbishment of existing office space in Ayr, Maybole, Prestwick and Girvan.
As principal contractor, LDC engaged in a programme of stakeholder engagement to ensure clear and productive communication from the outset. Working closely with Michael Laird Architects, the team have been able to develop the design to suit the outcomes from the engagement programme. The complexity of the project has required exceptional planning and coordination to ensure all parties’ needs are acknowledged in the solution.
Critical success factors for the project included comprehensive understanding of the existing properties, recognition of stakeholder needs and optimised engagement throughout, strong client-contractor communication and detailed and diligent planning before works commenced and during each phase.
“We are pleased to have been able to facilitate another important project with South Ayrshire Council and we look forward to working closely with Linear Design & Construct to bring further tangible benefits to the region.”
Michael McBreaty, Chief Executive, hub South West.
